The face behind the clay!
Hi I’m Abi and I’m a potter based in Sheffield. I started my pottery journey back in lockdown in my friends garage starting with air dry clay and progressing onto stoneware making gifts for friends and family.
I fell in love and started making ceramics in my bedroom and that was when Bare Ceramics was born. I then eventually moved into a shipping container which was absolutely freezing in winter, I bought a wheel and managed to source my own kiln quite quickly which gave me the freedom to make more pots on a bigger scale.
I started out and still mainly hand build but have self taught myself how to throw which I am still very much learning, discovering new techniques experimenting with different clay bodies and finding my style with glazes. I have since spent some time on slip casting which I am a little obsessed with, what I love about ceramics is there is so many different ways to create and no rules. (Sort of)
I then moved to Sheffield into a lovely (warmer) shared artists block surrounded by talented artists which I was so grateful for. I found my passion in holding pottery painting workshops collaborating with local businesses which has been the highlight and my biggest achievement of my journey so far.
Now I start my next chapter and new era in my own bigger studio space where I will be able to hold private workshops and pottery classes, exhibit my pieces and just offer a safe cosy space for anyone to come and relax drink a coffee and create art.
Thankyou for being here x
