5-Week Handbuilding Course
A gentle introduction to working with clay, this five-week course is an opportunity to slow down, make with your hands, and explore different handbuilding techniques in a relaxed studio setting.
Each week we'll focus on a different way of building with clay, allowing time to experiment, play, and develop your own ideas.
Week 1: Pinching – creating simple forms by hand and getting to know the clay.
Week 2: Coiling – building larger vessels and sculptural shapes using coils.
Week 3: Slab Building – exploring flat forms, construction, and texture.
Week 4: Combining Techniques – bringing everything together to create a more personal, considered piece.
Week 5: Glazing – learning about colour, surface, and glazing your finished work ready for firing.
Whether you're completely new to ceramics or returning to clay after some time away, the course is designed to be welcoming and unhurried. You'll leave with a collection of finished pieces, a solid foundation in handbuilding, and hopefully a new appreciation for the slow process of making.
All materials, glazing and kiln firings are included.
